Rug Washing Tips
Pre-wash stain removal:
If you notice stains on your rug, try one of the following pre-treatments before washing. This is the best way to ensure that spills do not stain the rug.
-
Laundry stain remover spray: Use a stain removal spray according to the product directions. Both enzyme-based and oxygen-based stain removers do work. Please do not use any harsh chemicals or bleach-based stain removers.
-
Carpet spot cleaner: Carpet spot cleaners can be used as a pre-wash treatment as well, just apply the product to the stain and wait 10 minutes before washing the rug.
-
Laundry detergent: Mix 1-2 teaspoons of laundry detergent into cool water and lightly work the mixture into the stain. Allow the rug to rest with the detergent mixture for an hour before washing.
Other washing tips:
-
To help neutralize pet odors, you may choose to add ½ cup of white vinegar to your detergent
